A big thank you to everyone who joined us on 13–14 May 2026 at Setsco Services Pte Ltd Bukit Batok. It was a pleasure co‑hosting this seminar with Instron, bringing together industry professionals to exchange insights on ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance in polymer materials.
🔍 The seminar opened with an address by Ms Prathipa Devi, Divisional Director (CTD), followed by a polymer testing segment led by Ms Shirley Lim, Manager, Polymer & Ceramic Testing.
The session covered:- Advanced material testing techniques (DSC, TGA, FTIR, particle size and microscopy analysis)- Common testing mistakes in plastics, films, and components- The future of material testing and the role of automation- Improving accuracy across key methods such as MFI, impact strength, and HDT & VST🔧 Live Demonstrations & Hands‑On Session 🔧Participants gained practical exposure to essential mechanical testing equipment used in polymer evaluation. Highlights included:
– Advanced video non‑contact extensometer for precise, real‑time strain measurement- Automatic notcher demonstrating the importance of consistent specimen preparation- Izod impact tester for evaluating material toughness under sudden force- Heat deflection tester to assess thermal performance under loadThese hands‑on sessions reinforced proper testing workflows, minimised common errors, and enhanced confidence in interpreting results.
