Factory Production Control (FPC1) - SS 560 : 2016

The Weldable Reinforcing bar, also commonly known as rebar, is a steel bar that is used widely in the construction industry, especially for concrete reinforcement. Steel reinforcing bar is mostly used as a tensioning devise to reinforce concrete and other masonry structures to help hold the concrete in a compressed state. Concrete is a material that is very strong in compression, but almost without strength in tension. In order to mitigate the weakness of the concrete’s inherent properties, reinforcement bar is cast into the concrete to sustain the tensile forces.

SETSCO Certification Body provides Product Certification for Weldable Reinforcing Steel in accordance to SS 560 : 2016 comprising the issuance of a Certificate of Conformity of performance with the determination of the product-type, continuous surveillance and audit testing.

The scheme focuses on five (05) main elements:

a) Factory Production Control on the basis of documented, permanent and internal control of production in a factory, in accordance to SS 560 : 2016 and its normative documents

b) Initial inspection of the steel mill

c) Continuous surveillance, assessment and evaluation of the mill’s factory production control

d) Determination of product type on the basis of type testing, tabulated values, statistical output and descriptive documentation of the product

e) Audit testing of samples taken from the mill
