Scope We Can Support

Photobiological Safety

Photobiological Safety

1. Blue Light Hazard:
Measures potential photochemical damage to the retina.

2. UV Hazard:
Assesses actinic UV and Near-UV radiation risks to the skin and eyes.

3. Infrared (IR) Hazard:
Evaluates thermal damage to the cornea and lens.

4. Risk Grouping:
Products are classified from RG0 (Exempt) to RG3 (High Risk) based on permissible exposure time.

Electrical & Physical Safety

Electrical & Physical Safety

1. Hi-Pot (Dielectric Strength):
Verifies that the insulation can withstand high voltage without breaking down.

2. Earth Continuity:
Checks the resistance between the ground wire and the metal chassis to prevent electric shocks.

3. Thermal/Temperature Rise:
Monitors the fixture during operation to ensure it doesn’t overheat or exceed component temperature limits.

4. Ingress Protection (IP Rating):
Determines the product’s resistance to dust and water, essential for outdoor or bathroom lighting.

Photometric & Performance Testing

Photometric & Performance Testing

These evaluate the quality and efficiency of the light produced.

1. Integrating Sphere Tests:
Measures Luminous Flux (Lumens), Efficacy (lm/W), CRI (Color Rendering Index), and CCT (Color Temperature).

2. Goniophotometer Tests:
Generates IES/LDT files by measuring light intensity at different angles to determine beam angle and distribution.

3. Flicker Analysis:
Measures “strobe” effects that can cause eye strain or headaches.

4. Lumen Maintenance (LM-79/LM-80):
Predicts the lifespan of the LED by measuring how brightness degrades over time: Essential for coastal or outdoor lighting to test finish durability.

Chemical & Environmental Compliance

Chemical & Environmental Compliance

Lighting must meet regional hazardous substance restrictions.

1. Corrosion/Salt Spray:
Essential for coastal or outdoor lighting to test finish durability.

2. UV Weathering:
Tests if plastic lenses or coatings will yellow or become brittle under sunlight.
